I guess to me, if nursing and love become sysnonomous, then that would preclude angry judgements towards your patients.
What angry judgements toward my patients? What patient? What angry judgements? When did I get angry?

But, yes, Love cannot coexist with angry judgements. I agree

Oh my where do I begin? You are something else. I think your views are monstrous. No, NOT that you are anti-abortion ( I respect that), but you would JUDGE EVERYONE by your unmoving and unreasonable standards! That you would dare say people who have an abortion are "psychopaths". I think you need to look in the mirror long and hard. Yes, I do.

And I hope you never let them be known to your future patients IF you finish and become a nurse. Funny thing, after nearly 7 years of nursing, what I have learned is there is NO set rule that applies to all people and that being this judgmental only reflects on the kind of person YOU are, not those you *JUDGE*.

I hope you learn. But I doubt it. I have run across your type before, and rarely do such leopards change their spots. I spent 9 years in the "bible belt" so I know what I am talking about here. Thing is, I respect anti-abortion beliefs and religious preferences, but honey you stepped over the line saying they are psychopathic when women seek abortion. That is where I have such heartburn with you.

You are scary; yes I say it once again. I believe you are dangerous. Personally I pray you reconsider entering nursing. PLEASE DO!!!! I don't want the likes of people like you hurting already vulnerable patients or poisoning coworkers with such viewpoints. At least for heaven's sake stay out of OB and GYN please, for the PATIENTs' sakes!!!!!! I am gonna stop cause I am in close danger of violating TOS here, and you are SO VERY NOT worth it, that much I KNOW!!!!
Well, it's a good thing you're against judging others.

Sorry, ADN, if you read my post, I never state that you have a "bad" attitude. I simply state that you HAVE an attitude, and you do indeed. You are certainly welcome to your opinion about abortion, as I am as well. What I think most of us object is calling someone who's had an abortion a "psychopath".
If your journey in nursing school continues, you will learn that this is a big no-no. You simply do not call people names b/k they have done something that YOU disprove of. At least, if you want this to be a long lasting career. You will, in your nursing journey, run into and perhaps have to treat pt.'s that have done despicable things. It is NOT your job to judge these people. It is your job to provide care to these individuals.
The very fact that you can so carelessly throw out a statement like that, really does go against your own proposed nursing "philosophy". "Nurse = Love"....not very loving, now is it?
I'm not trying to argue w/you, ADN,but your comments come off very flippant and arrogant. And that doesn't go over very well with people who ARE RN's. Or for caring human beings, for that matter...
Actually, I never called anyone who had an abortion a psychopath. I said the woman who put the baby in a ditch was probably insane because if she were a psycopath she would have aborted it a long time ago. It's everyone else who assumed I was calling all women who have an abortion psychopaths. I do think it takes an "antisocial" mentality to commit abortion, but I know the diagnostic criteria for Antisocial personality disorder, and I know that most women who have abortions don't fit that criteria. But even now, with what I have just said, do you think anyone is going to change their mind about my "attitude." No way. That's why I don't defend what I say (although, I guess I just did in this case to illustrate my point.).

As for judging patients. Thanks for the priceless advice, but I am the least judgemental person towards patients that I have ever met. I'm not tooting my own horn, I'm stating a flat out fact. This is an annonymous forum, so I state what's on my mind. As for my patients I hold this motto:

Everyone is doing the best they can with what they have at this point in time. Later on, they may have more and be able to do more, but for now, they are doing all they can with what they have.

It's called positive regard for the patient.

I love your advice on judging and then your judgement of me that follows that advice. I do appreciate your critique of me, though and I will give it its due consideration. You can bet on it.

Well, I'll never work at Planned Parenthood, and I won't work in OB, so I guess I don't really have to worry about it. But thanks for the priceless advice.

Well, I guess you'll also have to avoid the ER/Urgent Care, Peds, MedSurg, Psych. And you never know when a REAL Nurse may offer you some "priceless advice", so I'd keep my ears open, if I were you!

my response:

*****Yes you did say it. Reread your original post****

my response:

***I really ,really doubt this. I read your posts, I know what I saw. I think you are back-peddling now******

my response:

*** I know about positive regard for my patients, I have been an RN for 7 years. I practice it always. Thanks for the "priceless advice here"************

I love your advice on judging and then your judgement of me that follows that advice. I do appreciate your critique of me, though and I will give it its due consideration. You can bet on it.
I won't lay odds on it, but there is always hope. I hope you mean this. Good luck.

People say that I am being inflammatory. I guess it's my fault that I have forced them to hurl insults and judgments at me. I have brought out the worst in them. Who would have thought I had such power. Anyway. I think I'll be a last word freak here and leave this thread altogether.

Well, Adn Wannabe RN, you've offerred a lively time on the boards this evening haven't you? LOL
You are so full of....hypocrysies and double talk, you don't even make sense anymore. Perhaps you shouuld go back and re-read you own posts....just a suggestion. Oh yes PUHLEEZE, give my post it's DUE consideration...I know I will sleep better tonight....ROFLMAO

Personally, I think your "trollin", maybe you're a frustrated unit clerk, or nurse's aide, and you think it's funny to come here and post out of some books you checked out of the library, and TRY and sound knowledgeable...funny, you don't have many of us fooled.
But hey, whatever turns ya on...

Edited to add: No disrespect to unit clerks/secreataries, NA's/aides, etc. Note the word "frustrated"
