I was wondering, to ensure you push meds slowly, does anyone push on a high port and turn down the rate of infusion of the maintenance IV? That is what I do.

You don't really need to turn down the infusion unless it's going super fast.

I do not. I give it in the closest port, and if I have NS running, I have it going wide open. I just push the med in increments over whatever time is required.

I have never diluted.
We push it 40mg/minute though - never heard of the 10mg/min - that would take 10 minutes to push 100 mg which we often give.
