Didn't get my job I was really hoping for. Advice?

I just recently passed the NCLEX-RN. I graduated with a BSN in August.

I'm a mid-20s male living in the midwest.

I did my Capstone clinical in the OR at a hospital I really enjoyed working at, and I got a shadow+interview and I thought I would have been a strong candidate since I had been there for Capstone but unfortunately I didn't get the position. The feedback I got was that I wasn't able to answer questions with specific and detailed answers, which looking back, I would agree with that. I wasn't as prepared as I should have been.

What is etiquette as far as re-applying for the same position? Is it be appropriate to call the one who gave me her card and ask for a second chance at an interview, and just tell them that I was nervous? Or is this considered bad form?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry to say but I think this ship has sailed at least for now. If you reapply for the same position immediately after not being selected your application won't make it past HR. You might even get yourself flagged as being a nuisance ruining your chances of ever getting hired there. You need to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and work on your interview skills while applying to other jobs. Get some experience and if another position opens in the future try again. Do not contact the person you interviewed with. You got lucky. Most people are never told why they weren't selected. Believe me. They know you were nervous. Everybody's nervous while being interviewed. Using that as an explanation for being unable to answer their questions will not reflect well on you.

What do you have to lose by trying?

Apply to other positions in your area. It's disappointing, but just keep trying. But look into other places. I didn't get a job too coz I'm bad at interviews. My suggestion is to type out the question and answer and practice it out loud. Practicing the answers in your head won't help. I know.
