Diabetic Educator Question

Diabetic Educator Question

Had a student drop by who is in another curriculum at the college (early child education). She is very interested in becoming a diabetic educator, but doesn't want to become an RN. Does anyone know the qualifications to becoming a Certified Diabetic Educator and if one can do this without being an RN first? Thanxxx

Hello,
No, a CDE must be an RN, NP, pharmacist or nutritionist. There be one two other things too, but I do a professional license is required first.

In addition to the licenses already mentioned in this thread, I'd like to add that a Registered Dietitian and even a Physican can become CDE.
