Davenport University Acceptance Letters for Fall 2008

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I was just wondering how long it takes to get an acceptance/rejection letter from Davenport University, Warren Michigan campus. The deadline was May 16th. What should I expect?:D

Hi, I saw the SNO but didn't read it. I guess I will right now. It almost seems if they would only send that out to students that were accepted. Both my friend and I called our advisors to just say we got the letters and neither one of them called back. Maybe they are slammed with calls, but that was 4 days ago. I do have issues with call backs. Unfortunately you made a good point about the money being due by July 7th and not getting a letter yet. Did anyone have Dr. Gray for A&P?

I just read the SNO and that is for Midland students. They have a student nurse org at that campus.

It's now the last day of June, I haven't gotten anything!! I heard I must be in that bunch that won't get a letter until they make sure everyone turns in their stuff for the acceptances. I was told now to wait until the second week of July!! I still think everyone should get a letter, no matter what. Even if you are an "alternate". Beezlee...have you heard anything?? This is worse torture!! Now I get my hopes up again, to possibly still get denied and it was just a longer wait then everyone else!! Does anyone know of people getting denials?? I was told that 2 sets of denials went out.......Guess I will just keep waiting:plsebeg:

No, I haven't heard anything. I am just moving on.... and if I get a letter cool and if not I will figure something out. I put in some applications for jobs anyways, so I will just go with the flow. Maybe we will have someting to celebrate by fourth of July!!

I have been trying to find a job too! I cannot find one to save my life! Do you live in the Warren area? What kind of jobs have you been looking into? I am pretty much looking for anything. I am moving on too. I have to, or I will go insane!! I am really glad I was able to talk to you this whole time. :smokin: Too bad we can't meet up for a beer!! I could use one!! Let me know if you find any hopeful jobs.....I am still looking...I know some of the hospitals are, but I can't seem to get an interview, I don't know anyone that works there to get me in the door!! I have looked into some home health care places, but you have to drive all over the place, and I just don't have the best vehicle for that, not to mention gas and being an hour away from my kids!! Keep in touch no matter what! I am still praying for the both of us!!:bowingpur

I would try St. Mary Mercy hospital in Livonia. The title is called PCA, fancy for nurses aide. Come September they will be hiring massively due to school starting back up. I work there now and I'm getting so much experience with inserting and removing catheters, removing IV's and of course anything that the nurse doesn't want to do. The one thing that is making me nervous is the last four days I have been low censused because of low patient to nurse ratio. I chose to be contingent so that I could work when and what days I want too, so if my floor has to few patients then I either get pulled to a dif floor or low censused. I signed up to be put in a float pull so that on my days off I can call and check if they are short handed I have a friend that works at U of M and at Oakwo:heartbeatod and they too have been being "LCD" low censused. I truly believe that with all the loss of jobs everywhere and loss of insurance is impacting the way people handle their health. I worked for Ford for 13 years and was let go a year ago and my insurance is up, luckily I have my husbands, but there are a lot of people I know that now have no insurance or nothing compared to what we had. I think people will wait and see if they get better before paying a huge deductible. Another good idea is to call hospitals and see if you can shadow in different units, it's a good way to get to know people. I swear I am praying for you two that are posting to each other. I'm going to remain contingent and work one or two days a month to stay on the roster. No working during the program, I am giving the rest to God to guide me on how to pay my bills

Sorry for rambling, but I do care.

I have been applying for alot of medical assistant jobs, and trying to get back into a hospital. I for the heck of it applied to party city and Hallmark (both part time). I live in Berkley, use to live in warren on Dequindre years ago when I first got married. We should meet up though, it would be nice to meet someone with the same interests.

Thanks Dream2be for the encourgement. It is so hard to get into a hospital, unless you know someone, but I keep trying. I should have never quit at Oakland General (now St. John, on Dequindre) but I was young and didn't think ahead. lol.

I will keep you both posted.

Livonia is a hike for me with gas and all. I live in Warren. Like bezlee said, it's hard to get into a hospital unless you know someone. I did used to work at beaumont, and quit as well. I was actually working there unitl I graduated from OCC with a degree in Early Childhood. I was going to go on to be a teacher, but after working in the hospital, I wanted to be a nurse. I applied at a hallmark, too!! That is so funny! We are starting to feel the stress around here. My hubby has been working 7 days a week to support me and our 3 kids!! We are about ready to kill each other, cuz he never gets a day off work and I never get a day off from the kids!! I am going to check into Macomb and Wayne State. I already have a degree, so hoping maybe I can get into Wayne's program they have for people who already have degrees.....another long shot, but I have to try!! :p

A very good website for hospital employment is jobscience.com I am almost positive its .com if that doesn't work try jobscience.org

Rnforlife I have not heard a peep,so I guess I was not selected. I have called and e-mailed, no one can tell me anything. How is it on your end? Do you have any good job leads? I hope you got your letter and it was good news.

I haven't heard anything either. I called yesterday and they said denials and more acceptances going out now. But one person said that acceptances letters were going out in august. those would be the "alternates" so I guess according to her, not everyone responded to the acceptance letters. I have moved on. I don't have a job, but I may qualify for that unemployment extension....waiting on the mail for that now! I am beginning to hate the mail! lol I registered at Macomb community college. I will apply to their nursing program in February, Davenport again in May and then I am also applying to some other programs at Macomb. I really want to be a nurse, but my bills are just piling up while I am waiting. I have 3 kids to support. I can't wait any longer. If it comes, it comes.

RNforLife, I got my denial letter today!. So on to better things for now, no money to keep going to school, so I will keep looking for a job for now and see where life takes me. Let me know what happens with you!! I wish the best for you.
