I have often wondered about this. Alot of the bigger Theme Parks have a job oppoetunities section on their web site. I thought it might be a fun job. Of course it would be better for some then others. I wonder about wages and fringe benefits.

We have alot of parks in Ohio.

i doubt you'd have to worry much about backstabbing gossipy biznatches.

and just think, you could spend half your shift riding rollercoasters!

woohoo! weeeeeee!!

For 5 years, I ran the medical office of an amusement park. Here is the rub though: I did it as an EMT. Most parks use medics instead of nurses because they are trained to be relatively autonomous. They also have a skill set that fits with the injuries and illnesses most often seen in a park environment. Only a few parks use nurses anymore. Several of my employees were nurses, but they also held an EMS license and that is what they were employed as.

As far as the work itself? Cake! Basically we got paid to walk around and work on our tan, stopping occasionally to bandage a skinned knee, rehydrate a heat exhaustion, or help unload a stopped ride.

The roller coasters are a nice perk also,

Anybody who wants more info can PM me.

Sounds like lot of fun, I personally would love to be the nurse on a luxurious cruise line, ahhhhhhhh that's the life.

I can't believe the comment about EMT's working autonomously, like RN's don't????? Who do you think runs all the protocols in the ED & in the ICU's when the docs are fast alseep???? We take of the problem & when the doc finally calls back then we tell them what happened & what we did, not good doc go back to sleep. ok, ok, off my soap box. By the way, I was an EMT years ago, before RN school.

I'd like to take a year and be a nurse on a cruise ship. :D

A friend of the family is a nurse aboard a cruise ship for six months of the year, and makes $100,000 a year!!

Ok, so why are we not ALL working on cruise ships already??? We can take turns babysitting each other's kids for a "nominal fee" while some are on the cruise. :D :D

lol, I actually had a bunch of cruise line's "employment opportunities" pages bookmarked on my old computer. It's one of those things I've filed away as a "maybe someday", along with buying a sailboat and working my way down the coast to the Caribbean!

I sent you a PM.

Thanks Noney

I have seen postings that cruise nurses don't get paid very well. Sorry to bust the bubble. Of course I could be wrong.
