Considering South Carolina Move

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can offer me some input. My family

and I are considering moving down to the Greenville, SC

area.

Has anyone lived down there or currently living there?

I have read there are 2 big hospital systems. How do they

compare?

It would be nice to find a nurse friendly hospital.

My background is TCU/ICU/CCU.

I like the cardiac stuff...is one hospital or clinic stronger on

cardio than another?

Thanks!!

I'm in SC, but I'm sorry I really don't know the Greenville/Spartanburg area. I just wanted to say good luck and welcome to the state.

My brother and his family live in Greenville and love it. I've been there to visit and thought it was a very nice place to raise a family. I don't know anything about the hospitals though.

I worked in SC about 12 years ago, but lived in NC. I had friends in Greenville. It is a beautiful area, but I don't know much about the hospitals there. My only caution is this: Tenet operates some hospitals in SC. I'm not sure if they are in the Greenville Area, but if so, stay away from them! Good luck on your move.

Hi, don't know if you still will get this, post is kinda old. But, I live 25 minutes from there.

There is Greenville Memorial - now I think since it is corporate, it's changed to the Greenville Hospital System. Big, newish, always expanding.

Also, there is St. Francesis (I think I spelled that wrong). Anyway, that place is wonderful. I like it because, being catholic, that is where I envisioned myself working. They are running into some problems though. I think corporate america is trying to change them. I am toying w/the idea of going into LTC/hospice for St. Francesis when I graduate.

In the local area, there Easley Baptist Medical Center, Anderson (AnMed), Spartanburg Regional, and several others. There is no shortage of places to work.

Upper Greenville has a nice view of the Mt.'s. It is a good size, nothing like NJ or NY, but with all the transplants, it's getting there. ALSO THERE IS A HOCKEY TEAM!!!!!thats a +++++ BUT they have CHEERLEADERS for Goodness Sakes HELLO?

Greenville is getting kinda pricey. So, if you need help in relocating, let me know. You might want to live outside of Greenville and save yourself some $$$$ on housing.

Let me know if I can be of any help!

Jenn
