Computerized MD orders

Don't you think it's interesting that in this age of computer advancement, that nurses and unit assistants still spend HOURS diciphering written MD orders, etc.??

Hello - as a nurse that builds electronic forms, there are several issues that must be addressed when building computerized forms. One of the major concerns of the physicians are the security of their orders. Their biggest concern is that if the nurse must enter "their form" to transcribe the orders, then what would stop them from entering new orders or changing their existing orders. Who would have access to their forms, would they be printed and then transcribed - if so, how would the electronic system verify that they have been taken off? You can see, it is not easy to complete such a task. Until these problems are worked out, they will continue to write their orders on paper. Good luck with your concerns.
