My name is Amie and I am currently (just starting) in a BSN program. I need to find out from nurses employed in community or public health nursing how you define your roles.
Thanks for any help.

I am not sure what you mean. Working for Health Departments means that one wears many hats, i.e. immunizations, women's health, some do children's clinics, travel immunizations, teaching, home visits (case management and postpartum) and the list goes on. Each nurse in these areas has a common role of addressing public health issues, but, each is a separate job. Public Health is foremost about education and supplying a service to a lot of the underserved populations. Hope this helps - I love public health, I have been able to reach so many people with information and a caring touch that we nurses are built for!! Vicki
