Ok ok. I was reading one of the topics about An LPN that was furious because her boss was a CNA staff coordinator. I can't believe some of the stuff that was said. First of all I hate when nurses say that CNAs aren't qualified or have no knowledge about nursing or that CNAs don't provide nursing service. CNAs do provide nursing service, basic low liability nursing services, bedmaking, bathing, measuring vital signs, backrubs, are all basic practical nursing services. The name of the cna class is Nursing Fundamentals. And you said that she has nothing more than a hs diploma?? No college degree of any kind? Neither do you! LPNs do not have a college degree either, just a diploma of technical studies, just like a CNA has a certificate of technical studies! Why as LPNs do you bash CNAs? Is it because your insecure that you don't have a college degree like RNs do? Yes LPNs may have licensure but that licensure is no good without RN supervision. LPNs are not independent practicioners of nursing as RNs are, a d require RN supervision in every branch of nursing. So just like CNAs even though your ab LPN you still can't work without RN supervision. I have noticed that most of the nurses who put down CNAs are indeed LPNs. We're not nurses I understand, but we are Traind and Evaluated Certified Nurses Aides,we carry out the basic NURSING so the LPNs can focus on complex NURSING and RNs can focus on advanced NURSING. Nursing is not a legally protected term, CBASIC, COMPLEX, ADVANCED. That's why nurses aides were created, nit to be a subject of displacement. It's non of your business who the DON or NFA puts at positions. Do you as an LPN have a Bachelor or masters degree? Go to the facility care for your residents get paid go home. Youwrent hired to qwstion the DONs decisions I'm almost certain. If you don't like the idea that that's your boss quit and go elsewhere. It's nfair to residents that your focus is on other staff rather than providing them with thebest LPN nursing care possible.
