do you go w/ your heart or your mind? been a PN for several years, and I do mean SEVERAL. Now at a point in my life where I could go for my RN or change my career totally (aka real estate). AGE 53. my most inspiring time was in the ER. ...now that laws have changed, I need my RN for this. time is awasting.., I wake up every day thinking RN or RE (real estate)... I love the blood N guts.. but, even at that, the $$$$ is uneventful. where I live, the RE is great!!..but, then again, they're a dime a dozen..ie: on the street where I live..(short, 2 cul-de-scas) there are 4 agents. yes, I do feel I could be good at this...but my other consideration is ........do I wanna be mediocre at something which could bring me greater monies, or be great at nursing..(not blowing my own horn.just re experience, and references beyond what I thought was), and less money.

just have the opportunity to change..n dont know if I should.

I know y'allllll are gonna come back w/ the heart thing...but I really need some help here. (and I dont know of any RE sites.) .altho I guess I am sure I could look..... just dont know where my heart/mind is. thanx.

What does your heart tell you? Now, what does your bank account say? You have all this experience doing something you obviously love or you wouldn't be so conflicted. Is the real estate market stable? Sure the pay may be great in the beginnng but that's all based on how well you sell. I don't know your family situation but how will it affect that? Sometimes our dreams and reality don't mesh. Do what's best for you overall. I mean there must be some RN programs that are accelerated or that would award you advance standing. There's a huge nurse shortage and you seem to be dedicated to a profession you enjoy, so please weigh your decision carefully. We need nurses like you.

Why not get the RE license and try it part time? Thats how

many nurses in my area started. You can start gradual and

see if it is something you would like.

The RE is usually one semester, then you sit for the exam.

I did and held both licenses for years--later dropped the

RE license when the market took a nosedive years ago.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would go for both. If you have an evening weekend program in your area, you could be an RE during the day.

I have a Realtors license. Now I am an LPN and am going for my RN. I HATED being a Realtor. I am not good at selling myself. I am great at being professional, taking care of the customer, etc, etc...but, I HATE passing out my fliers saying "I'm a great Realtor and here is why you should hire me!!!" :p

I like the stability of what and where I am now. Always a job for me. If you don't make the grade they will send you packing. I hate that. Good luck with your decision.
