Hi everyone. I am in TN and I am so confused about the natural progression / career ladder for a nursing career. Can anyone help? All classes for 2004 are full here so I was thinking of going to a Medical Assistant training school as a refresher to the LPN program I hope to start in Jan. Any thoughts? Also, does anyone know the difference between Medical Assistant and Nursing Assistant in TN????

I can't speak for TN, but in TX a nursing assistant program would be a better lead in for LPN school than a medical assistant program. A medical assistant program is more office stuff...V/S, simple lab work, etc. A nursing assistant program would be more bedside/clinical-hands-on stuff. It would help you become more accustomed to helping care for patients in a hospital environment...which will be most of your LPN training.
