Are female nurses allowed to wear skirts for religious beliefs?

Have you ever seen anyone out there do that?

I have seen plenty of nurses wear skirts and even headscarfs :). I think if a particular hospital would try to prohibit it, they will be in lawsuits up to their a$$ the next morning.

The only think is I think that the skirt has to match the uniform in color and make... but that should not be a problem, there are plenty of skirt uniforms.

Why not? Nurses used to wear skirts all the time:wink2: Make them long(but not so long that you trip over it) and you won't even need to wear horrid panty hose with it! It has never been an issue wear I work.

I live in an area with a large Mennonite community, and I see nurses and aides in long (usually calf-length) skirts and head coverings all the time. Skirts aren't my cup of tea, but I certainly don't see anything wrong with conservative dress in nursing.........much better than tight T-shirts with scrub pants or short scrub dresses, IMHO.

I have seen the cutest scrub dresses. I wish I could wear them but I'm just not comfortable with the weight I am at the moment. But I can't wait to wear them one day.:lol2:

There is a large Pentecost population in my community, so seeing a nurse in a dress/ skirt is normal.

Sure. The Orthodox Jewish nurses AND doctors I know do, as well as some Muslim women. And I would imagine some Christian women do, as well.

And I wear skirts sometimes and I'm an atheist.

I don't know much about the religion, but I think they are sort of an offshoot from the Amish. However, they have all the modern conveniences; and here, at least, they are very successful in business. I work for a Mennonite organization that's been in the continuing-care-retirement business for over 50 years, and they are among the best companies to work for in this area. They treat their employees fairly and have an excellent reputation for their quality of care, which they say is part of their Christian values. All I know is, I'm happy working for them.
