Hi i´m a male nursing student from Iceland. I came across this site while surfing the net. I am working on a Emergency Room at the University hosptal in Reykjavík, Iceland.

Me and my fellow nursing student are trying to find a Nursing School in the US. We wan´t to study emergency nursing and we we´re wondering if anybody could point us in the right direction to a good school.

with kind regards,

Schools in the U.S. don't teach you how to specialize. It's all about nursing in areas such as adult health, obstetrics, pediatrics, psych, and sometimes community health.

After you are licensed, then you look for a job in your specialty. Many hospitals have long orientations to that specialty, some like mine require some classwork and a long preceptorship for a few months at least.

As far as schools go, choose the states that interest you most, then do a search on colleges and universities. There is also a section on the home page here that lists nursing schools.

Good luck to you and your friends!

Wow, Iceland...that sounds like some kind of hi-fi movie. When you are deciding which school to go to - find out what percentage of students pass the NCLEX within the first 2 tries. Also, find out how many students they take each semester. If the classes/clinicals have too many students, you may not get the attention you need due to having too many students. I work in the Memphis, TN area (home of Elvis Presley). There are many school of nursing in the area. I have never heard anything bad about any nursing schools. Good Luck.
