I don't know how to make him go. Hit him in the head to knock him out and drag him there. Tell him you will not talk to or see him again until he goes. He's grown up. You likely do not have the power or control to make him.

    Jessy,

He must be a Good friend if he is sharing intimate details like you mention. All you can do is advise him to see a Dr. and if he chooses not to then ask him to never mention it again . And if by some chance this friend is you, then you now have your answer, go to a doctor.

any advice would be helpful. thanks! [/B]
Perhaps he took you too seriously? It's a guy thing.

But he's not embarassed about having it announced on the internet so the entire world can see?
Anonymity is the wonder of the internet world my friend. Now, if I had said this guy from this city who works at this location is having these types of problems, thats another issue all together.

And, yes I said the word masturbation. Sorry if that word "embarassed" you or anything. Sheesh...

Thanks Paul, trust me this is not going to scare me from posting.

I'd scare him...tell him we all said it will fall off unless he sees the doctor NOW....

No one is embarassed but it added nothing, JMHO. You can't make him DO anything. Either he goes he he does not. You know that.

i dunno...the title of the thread itself made me want to run..
i passed it several times and then just HAD to take a peek..and although it's not a funny situation, I'm laughing. I was eating and suddenly lost my appetite..
a rare thing for a nurse.

so, let me get this straight..

    he won't go to a stranger..a doctor..someone who KNOWS..
but he'll discuss this type thing with his FEMALE friend?..even telling you it grows when he masturbates?

Are you SURE your friend isn't having a laugh at your expense??
Have you seen this bump?? What does it look like?? Does it grow while he's masturating and then shrink back down, or does it continue to grow each time? How much has it grown over the past year?

    btw..welcome to Allnurses!!!

Don't feel bad, Tracy. The more posts there are on this thread, the more it's making me laugh.

Why yes, I am going to hell, thanks for asking.

This completely amazes me. In my recent work experience, nothing gets a guy to the doctor quicker than a problem with his johnson. Bumps, lumps, rashes, warts, scales, leaks - you name it - they're waiting on the doorstep when we open.

Maybe that's just the average 20 yo male, tho.

Clearly this is something that needs to be addressed - your are correct in stating to him that doctors indeed "handle" this sort of thing all the time. He has everything to gain, including his peace of mind.

(BTW - for the guys reading this - women don't actually sit around comparing feminine hygiene products like in the commercials. Do you all sit around discussing your troubled tallywackers?)

Maybe he wants her to assess it and is too shy to ask....

The masterbation info would be pertinent if IT GROWS IN SIZE when he does the deed. It would be something to tell the physician!!!

As for this thread being a "not so good" post for the FIRST post...hey, we all have to start with something to ask or say.

As for getting your friend to the doctor's office, he may be scared. This works for women, let him know you would be willing to take him to the appointment to lend him support.

(Besides how many of your friends and family members started asking you all sorts of medical advice, just because you were a nursing student???? AND how many of you actually tried to find out the answer for them???? Don't say you didn't.)

    Good Luck!
