BOARDS: Good or bad if computer shuts down @ 75??

  1. I just took the boards and it seemed that q question had 2 possible answers.I prepared for the test by taking a reveiw course and by doing 100 reveiw questions/day for 6 weeks, and yet p/ having taken the test I don't feel certain whether I passed or failed and the computer turned off @ the minimum of 75 questions. My question is this: Is it usually a good thing or a bad thing when the computer turns off @ the minimum? Does anyone know?

It can go either way. I passed with 75 questions. I also know people who failed with 75. If it's any consolation, I was convinced that I failed.

    Well,
the consensus seems to be that more often at 75 you pass than fail- but I do know a few who failed at 75 as well, but, take heart, I know a lot more people who passed at 75 than failed. You probably did just fine.

My thought was "If I've failed, it better have dang well taken more than 75 questions to do it!" Relax, now that its computerized, you'll know in a few days. Take deep breaths... we've all been through it!

Personally, I have a feeling you passed. My computer shut off after 75 questions and while taking the test, I didn't struggle as much as I had anticipated. The people I know that failed, did not shut down after 75. You'll be in my prayers.

Does anyone remember number 2 pencils and filling in all of the little circles?I think if I was taking the boards now on computer and it shut down on me I would probably have a stroke.Just can't get used to all of this technology...good luck-let us know how you did....

Thanks for all the encouraging postings. I'm feeling a little better about the situation. I'm a worrier as it is, so until I get that licence in my hand I'm gonna be a little bit of a wreck. Everyone I talked to @ work the next day seemed to think it was a good sign that it shut down @ the minimum. My question still stands though. I need all the reassurance I can get /c this!

Here is a neat trick I used to do for my students.... I would call the BON a few days after their test, and inquire whether or not they are licensed. It requires date of birth, and SS#. Obviously, if they would give me a license number, the student passed their state boards.

I haven't done it in a long time, but it probably still works.

For the record... I finished my RN boards in 1/2 hour with 75 questions and passed. Time was [when I took my LPN boards], that the exam was the whole day long & it took 6-8 [sometimes 10] weeks before you heard a thing. I am sure you did well....

Be sure to let us all know when you hear!

When I took my boards and the computer shut down at 75, I literally grabbed the monitor and said "Please, give me another chance!" I was really embarassed, but thankful I didn't know anyone else in the room. I passed.

    Just wanted to share this!

you might have made too many mistakes that you wouldn't be able to pass even if you finish the whole test...

Since 75 is the minimum of questions you can receive, shutting off at 75 means that you very clearly demonstrated something. Whether that something is that you are a safe competent nurse or you are a danger to society is something that I think you can figure out. Mine shut off at 75 also, and I passed. (yeah!) What it comes down to is you're either extremely competent or extremely incompetent. When you look at it in those extremes, I think that will put your mind at ease. Please keep us posted! It's been 2 years for me, but I remember that time when my mailman though I was one crazy girl for waiting for him everyday! (What a relief that big white envelope was!)

I've heard lots of good news when the computer shuts off at 75. Mine shut off in the high 80's and I'm a nervous wreck. Wish there was an immediate way to get the news.
