Can someone enlighten me on the significance
of pulse pressure in the hypertensive patient.I work in longterm care. What is going on with my patient whose pressure normally runs 160/80 and I get a reading of
158/44. Was I right to hold the BP med?

I probably would have also held the med but would have notified the doctor. I have found that alot of the docs that I work with want the medication given anyways, if the systolic is above 150. When ever this situation occurs I make it a habit to document document document and note what the doc says in an order. Just incase!
