Hello all! I am wondering if anyone knows of a nursing specialty for an LPN that is black n white with very little grey area or none at all? I have high anxiety and am trying tofind a specialty outside of direct patient care. Im afraid there aren't any and ill have to find a new profession that is.

What do you mean "Black and white"? That is a really vague description of what exactly it is that you are seeking..

Our job is to observe, judge, and act. Any nursing position will require you to apply nursing judgement. That's what they pay us the big bucks for.
You have the knowledge, don't be afraid to use it.
Research insurance company jobs. Best of luck and keep us posted.

What about doctor's offices? While it is still patient care it is not as busy and "crazy" as nursing home or similar.
A lot of non bedside nursing jobs are for RN or requires bedside experience for LPN - like liaison positions.

Very few physicians hire nurses. Many hire MA's they can train on the job and pay significantly less especially with reduced reimbursement from insurance.
Even in outpatient there isn't a lot of black and white due to human variation

'Black and white' thinking, a.k.a. dichotomous thought processes, has no place in nursing. It is the 'shades of gray' present in many nursing scenarios that represent abstract thought and the ability to think outside the box to arrive at resolutions.
Hence, all areas of nursing are going to encompass those pesky shades of gray.

You may have better coping mechanisms than you realize especially if you made it through nursing school. I remember my student nurse days and that was 30 plus years ago. If you can survive nursing school, you can make it through most anything and probably a lot more than you may think you can. Have you though of counseling to help you with your confidence? It seems that you have more talents than you realize.
