Behaviors you've learned to lose when at work.

I'm full of questions lately. What behaviors had you really had to work on stopping (before it gets you in trouble) at work. I still battle mine. Meetings just seem to bring out the adolescent in me. I want to roll my eyes when I hear some of the new rulings passed down from above. I especially have a hard time with the latest business expressions...as in "raising the bar" or "action plan" or "huddles" (like football) (I like the actual result, small quick group meet/plan and off we go" But still honestly!!! The other is wanting to crack jokes about those cheezy training video's and anything else that passes me by. Life can just be so funny, but now I try to keep my observations and comments to myself..that's why I smile so much!:yeah:

How about 'The Party's Over'?

When I was going through radiation therapy, I would sing during the session...Another one (bad cell) bites the dust.

I've been told now my bad behaviors are giving 'looks' to staff members. Looks?:uhoh3::coollook:

Yeah, probably if they've done something really stupid I might get a look on my face. That's why I don't play poker.

I've been told people can when they've set something up wrong or are using equipment correctly because I will get a "look" at the piece of equipment and then the red pen will come out to draw a box next to it on my report sheet. Usually once we are out of the room (we do bedside report) I get asked what was done wrong before I can mention it to them (this is provided it is not something emergent that needs to be immediately addressed).

I think this is how my look goes

:) Patient is alive and breathing, this is a good sign

 Wait a second, what is THAT?

:uhoh21: That doesn't look right...

:nono: No, that is definitely wrong!

 What else is wrong?!?

I have major resting b****face. I don't even know I'm making it but I've had coworkers ask what's wrong or confess that when they first met me they thought I was always about to yell at them. But it's just my thinking expression. I try to keep a more Muldoon expression but I usually don't even know I'm making the face.

I know exactly what you mean! When I am busy I must look like I am ready to bite someone's head off. I have even heard comments in reviews about it. It's taken a while but I have finally, hopefully, trained myself to look a little more neutral.

I have basically developed a work persona; the sarcasm stays in check and I just try to be casual and friendly. I am more assertive at work than in my personal life.

I have to work really hard on not being so sarcastic and not being too chummy with the co-workers because then when I delegate things to them or have to get serious they think I am joking. I also have to stop complaining as well.

Breathing through my nose while on the job........ P.U.!!!!

Swearing at all the b.s. things that happen...I work with one individual who is constantly complaining about staff, patients, and the system...rather loudly...and it's easy to get caught up in the negativity
