Becoming a midwife

by shaye

I Live in queensland Australia and Iam wanting some help. I have been told all different stories about which courses you have to do to become a midwife. Ive wanted to be a midwife and to help women through the most precious and trying times of their lives (delivering their babies). I also want to eventually educate people about chilbirth, before, during and after. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default midwives
Hi,

I'm not even a nurse yet, but if I use my brain I'd like to become a midwife someday too. I don't know what the schooling system is like in Australia, but here you must first get a BSN degree in nursing which is four years, then I'd probably recommend working in Labor & Delivery so you have some experience with the whole baby thing and THEN you have to get a Master's Degree but I'm not sure how long that takes. Hope I answered your question.
