From reading many a post on here, I know you all know of docs who don't deserve the title at all. Negligent, treat nurses and their pts like crap. Happy to report it does seem to come right back to them, our guy is in jail with no bond after a long investigation by the feds, selling scripts and having several pts OD on them. Multiple pts all horrified at this, "what a great doc" he was, etc. Guess a new supplier will be in the works.

annmariern - Oh, yes. I guess no matter where you live or work, these types all seem to take root and spread the "joy". We had one that thankfully out of circulation. He ordered whatever the patients requested, and then in return, he wanted certain "favors". Let's just say there were a lot of pretty young women who came in with a sprained ankle and left getting a breast exam.

Ended situation with a sting op shutting his operation down. Still in jail, don't know how long, but once it hit the papers, they had more victims calling every day.

what blows my mind is everyone knew he was a bad doc, I mean it was blatant incompetence. It took the feds to intervene to stop him. Sad reflection of healthcare in America. When he was on call for the ER you had to pity the pts who won that lottery.

Hey - This one too!! He had an office for just routine PCP stuff and also covered shifts in the ER. Made a mental note of when he was in the ER working just in case I was in a wreck or anything else that would end up in the ER.

I finally did end up as his patient in the ER late at night. When I saw him come in, I thought "Oh, well here it comes..." Funny thing though, he was totally appropriate and caring, but not resembling his reputation. Told my dh later, I said, "Don't know if that is an insult or not." The only part he wanted to see were my ears!

Not this guy, I mean all jovial personality, but just the way he was; I had a 90 year old lady, whose next of kin was her gardener. Deaf, smart as whip, but vulnerable. He sneaked in late at night, scribbled in her chart, never saw her, took off. We couldn't get her treated, pages went unanswered, if he did call back it was a tirade of how dare we bother him.He ran into our breakroom once to get away from us when we tried to get a plan for her! Theres docs who mean well but fall short & then there are the ones who don't give a damn. Fake it well, and stay in business. For now at my hospital, at least for a while, the others are thinking about it at least.

Reminds me somehow of the old joke: "What do you call the medical student who graduated at the bottom of his class?" "Doctor."
