Bad day ... Gone GOOD !!!

I went in for my normal shift today, and was greeted at the door by our HR director. I thought to myself, ohhh, boy, this can't be good. Sure enough, it wasn't. I got laid off! At first I was shocked, then once the shock wore off I was pretty angry, because I felt I busted my butt in that ER, never had a complaint, or disciplinary action, nothing! Then as it sank in further I got very upset, I had nowhere really to go, its a VERY small town up here. I thought, Oh god, I'll never get another job in this economy, looks like I'm moving home!

I called another close RN friend that I used to work with on my old shift, she was upset for me, then as any good friend would do, took me out to lunch, and then for some much needed "beverages" at our local bar. So with my sorrows drowned, I returned home, and passed out.

Waking up with a hangover, ordered some pizza, and then checked the mailbox. Whelp, Guess what was on top of the stack of mail? An envelope from Johns Hopkins.

I GOT INTO MED SCHOOL BABY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good bye northern Maine ... BALTIMORE HERE I COME !!!!!!!!!
I'M ALREADY PACKING !!!!!!!!!!!!

Now THATS how you turn a crappy day into an INCREDIBLE one!

I'm sorry guys, I know this has really nothing to do with these message boards, but I have to yell it to everyone!!!!

I think I've read the letter at least 100 times so far, I keep reading it cause I can't believe it, cause its not like its just med school .... its Johns freakin' Hopkins!!!! About the LAST place I expected to get into!

THANK YOU! to everyone on this board, who told me to apply to med school if I thought I could do it! I decided to try the "all in" approach! IT WORKED!!!! You guys are like my second little family here!
