How do you make your application stand out from the rest!

Recently I recieved an application form, which contained a printed cartoon of a man crawling along the floor begging for a job! It had four cartoon boxes with a boss in an office sat at his desk and the man was in rags, with a long beard in a desperate state. Even in the written application the applicant actually begged for a job!

So he got my attention but for all the wrong reasons and I felt concern about actually calling the potential employee for interview. Whilst I commend him for his origionality It made me feel nervous that he was so desperate, that it was not professional, and if he wasnt professional in his application then I would have reservations about pt interaction.

I would give the guy an interview, and judge him based on that.

I would suggest that you call the applicant and very politely ask him to submit a "professional resume" for your review. The applicant needs to learn that his attempt to gain attention was actually a turn-off for you. This would make it a growth experience for the applicant.
