Anyone know starting pay for HH nurse in TN?

by mom2zcc

Hi! I am new on here. I just recently got a job at a nurse staffing agency filling in at local hospitals. I am really interested in finding out about home health nursing though. Does anyone know what the typical starting pay for a home health RN is in TN?

Thank you!

I don't know about TN but where I am it is, depending on what you are there to do between $ 35-$ 40 hour. Also may depend on the agency. Hopefully this will give a ball park figure.

Anywhere from $23-$35 hr depending on yrs experience as an RN, experience in home health (if any time was spent in home health as an LPN, this would count), and where in the state. Pays more in the city. I guess that doesn't really even give you a ball park figure....alot of difference between 23 & 35...but really depends on yrs experience.

Melinurse....Wow..that's good money where you're at I don't think it would be nearly that much here...I think $30/hr is considered travel-type pay here, but thanks for the info. I was looking at Amedisys or Gentiva.

travel50....thanks for the info. I'm in rural East Tennessee. I've been a nurse 10 years..BSN. I worked med/surg for four years, parish nurse 1 year, and then I've been staying home for the past five years with my three little boys, but I'm getting back into working now and trying to find out some things. I've been out of the loop...lol. I had no idea what the pay was for an RN now.

I should mention the higher paid jobs are usually the ones where you are there for shorter times . Most times on the total of my pay check I make slightly more than I did working in med-surg. But I sure do love the work environment much much better and that is priceless. You really get to know your patients on a deeper level when you go into their home environment and interact with them and their families.

You should look up some agencies and just cold call them. Without identifying yourself, ask what they pay their RNs. They will probably quote you a rate for visits and an hourly rate for shifts.
