Anybody else catch this?... Glee Male nurse

Nurses General Nursing

So I don't like to admit it, but I watched Glee.... however, I was slightly offended by the stab the season premier made at male nurses... and I quote "female football coach, like male nurses, are a sin against nature." It's also not cool that females coaching football is a sin according to the writers of Glee. I am officially irritated for the day and I could not bring myself to watch the rest of the episode... and probably the rest of the season as well.

I caught it, and it made me raise my eyebrows, but then I let it go. If you're familiar with the character of Sue Sylvester, then you KNOW this is typical fodder. Think of all the insults she has spouted throughout the shows duration, and you'll realize this one was MILD. I think people need to lighten up, honestly.

This was the first episode I have seen (and it didnt impress me enough to watch again), and even I could figure out that is was a sarcastic, catty comment from a ***** of a woman!

Jeesh! Can't we all just get along and have a sense of humor?

If that one line offended your sensibilities, I have a suggestion: DON'T WATCH GLEE.

That's the kinda country we live in - free to turn on your tv set and free to turn the dial.

Personally, I would find politically correct comedy shows to not be all that funny.

I am sure the Glee writers don't believe it's truly a sin. The show pokes fun at gender and sexuality stereotypes, in addition to featuring overproduced autotuned musical numbers. If it was Sue Sylvester who said this, you should also know on the show she's noted to have given a pro-littering editorial and has tried to sabotage the plucky Glee kids any chance she can get. She's the villain.

While I agree Glee is more on the "comic" relief side, I disagree that it was a parody. The comment about male nurses was not spoken in a sarcastic tone; nor was it followed by a funnier scene.

Considering that the female coach turns out to be very caring and strong, I think that does lend the quote a sarcastic twist. The person who said it isn't meant to be taken seriously--this is coming from the same character that previously told all ugly people to stay inside so they don't offend her eyes.

You need to ease up on the sensitivity. I started watching glee because of that line after someone sent me the youtube link. It is one of the funniest lines i have ever heard and it litterally made me cry.

Maybe in the last 4+ months since the OP started this post, they have?

Everything Sue Sylvester says is offensive. That's the mainstay of her character.
