Hi,

I'm a Muslim and I am considering becoming a surgical tech. I wear hijab and I was wondering if there's any Muslims here who are surgical techs who I can ask some questions about how you wear hijab in the OR. And if anyone else knows how a muslim scrub nurse wears hijab or has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.:)

The small picture looks like what she wears, the other ones are too sheer and I don't believe would be acceptable (would they?)

these ones marv? ..the only problem with these is that they are see through, though the first one doesnt appear to be so. but if it was a problem these could be worn over the hijaab.

this is interesting.i'm a nursing student and was wondering how to fit my khimar for clinical next week.well this has sure helped some

yes marvie it cant be see through

as has been suggested if managers are unhappy with an externally sourced hijab you could wear an ortho hood over it or how's your green surgical towel origami ...

I did clinical in OR with my hijaab and they just asked that I put the ends underneath my scrubs so nothing is hanging out (I wear the square shaped ones). Then I tied the surgical cap on top of my hijaab.

The whole point of the cap is to prevent hairs from contaminating the sterile field - so the hijaab is definitely a plus and something you shouldn't worry about. If they hire you with hijaab - you already know that they are not concerned about it.

Good luck!
