my dtr. used to take bactrim for her ear infections until one time she had a sandpaper rash covering her abdomen. her pediatrician labeled it an allergy. now is it true that people that are allergic to sulfa, cannot take lasix?
People who are allergic to sulfa can have a sensitivity to any of the sulfa-based drugs, including Lasix. I found out the hard way that Celebrex (NSAID) has sulfonamides in it. I am allergic to sulfa and when I took a sample dose of Celebrex that the doctor had given me, I developed hives and a swollen face. If you go to Google and type in "lasix sulfa allergy", there are all kinds of links to articles that explain the cross-sensitivity.
