AHA BLS Instructor card & Healthcare Provider card

Hello all. I just recently got my AHA BLS Instructor cert from my employer. When we went through the class, he said that the Instructor cert and the BLS Healthcare Provider cert would expire at the same time, because they taught a refresher with the instructor class.

When I got my card, all I got was the BLS Instructor card. Does the Instructor card override/include the Healthcare Provider card, or am I supposed to have two different cards?

I would ask the training coordinator, but it took a month of pestering for him to even get me this one card. So, I'd rather just get an answer here if anyone knows for sure.

Thanks!

As far as AHA is concerned, your Instructor card 'trumps' your Provider card, meaning you do not have to maintain or carry both. Provider skills should be validated sometime during your 2 years or as a part of your Instructor renewal.

I'm the AHA person at my facility and my instructors are only issued Instructor cards. Some employers however, may require you to have a physical card for each.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. Now I know why I only got one card. :D
