Hello, all out there, I need some help. I am starting a new travel assignment in a couple of days and they want me to do ACLS on my own and I was wondering if anyone knows of a free interactive review site. My ACLS has long since expired. I am not getting much out of the AHA book.

If you require AHA, then the book is what you will need. The algorithms, pharm review, MI/stroke, from the book ...... more if you can get it in. BLS is required, too, beforehand.

Brush up on your basic dis/arrhythmias .... Vfib, Vtach, SVT, PEA, Brady, ..... Memorize the algorithms.

i think i found it by putting "mock codes" or "acls code simulator" in google. there were other sites, but this is the only one i saved.

edited to add: these are best for checking what you know, not for teaching you acls. if you just try to go through the code simulations without reading up on it first, you will frustrate yourself to no end!!! i used them before my last recert to see what i had retained.

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know of an ACLS renewal course that can be taken online? I know that the AHA has a new ACLS Part I course online, but it requires a skills session for the hands on megacode for completion. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am basically looking for an online course renewal, with an online megacode, and AHA approved.

From what I understand the AHA does not approve any entirely online program. Here is a statement from one such program, that does not require a skills check, it can be found in the FAQ sections at

A: Our training material and exams are crafted after the new official ACLS provider manual which follows the new 2010 AHA guidelines. I did the online ACLS and PALS renewals. My employer refused to accept them because there were no hands on skills stations. I wasted well over $700 on the online only courses. Check with your employer first before going that route.

I have heard a number of employers actually encourage the American Heart Association online course that require local hands on verification. Saves the employer the cost of the instructors, doesn't tie up the classrooms, and most importantly it saves the students from death by powerpoint.

Personally I dont see what would be wrong with a completely online renewal if it were done properly and was interactive. As much "hands on" as my last renewal was, the mega-code we we went in as a group of 4-6 and since this was like my 10 or 11th time doing it I personally didnt touch one thing. Yeah I did talk to the instructor, but I can do that with my PC.

I think the idea is ahead of it's time. I've been doing and teaching CPR for about 30 years, but everytime the education department catches up to me I have to go through the motions again. All for a little piece of paper! Why don't they teach paper to do CPR and leave me to take care of sick people?

I just recently did my BLS/ACLS renewal with an instructor I found in my area through the AHA website. It was hands on and the class was very quick since there was only one other student and myself. I paid $175 for both. Many hospitals in my area do not accept on-line renewals. Also, I think on-line would be more expensive and time consuming than doing hands on with an instructor from the AHA website.

AHA requires "hands on" skills check off. You should be able to find someone aligned with a TC in your area to complete this.
