A calculation problem

  1. Anyone please help;

    A patient is ordered a continous iv infusion of D5W. The first bag containg 1 L begun at 1400 at 20 drops/min. After 5 hr the rate is increased to 25 drops/min. The drip chamber delivers 20 drops/ml. What time would the next bag be hung?

    Thank you.

    4:20 am

    700mL after 5 hrs...(20 gtts/min = 1 mL/min; 5 hrs = 300 min)

    25 gtts/min = 1.25mL/min (700/1.25 = 9hr 20 min)

    1400 + 5hrs + 9hrs 20 min = 4:20am

    I concur, 04:20. Nice work, Woody436. I did it in a slightly different manner, but got the same answer.
