Hmmmm....

3 DUIs equals irresponsible in my opinion. She should lose her driver's license, after all she deserves to. I don't know how comfortable I would feel about her providing care to my family. I mean, if she's comfortable driving drunk, who's to say she is not uncomfortable practicing under the influence.

in response to the post of "how bout 1DUI=5 yr loss of license". are you serious? hopefully you never find yourself on the wrong side of the law. we'll see if you like an extreme punishment for a first offense. until you walk in someone else's skin, dont judge.

Me, I've never driven after I've had a drink neither has my husband. Its not a mistake its a dangerous pattern of behavior and disregard for the law. Why shouldn't we judge, thats kind of why they make laws about this?

Same here it's not somethig I'd ever think of doing. Nor would I let anyone in my family get into a car driven by soemone impaired. @ seminole, maybe since FSU=party school it seems normal to get a DUI. But no it is not the 'norm' for nurses to "find themselves on the wrong side of the law." That's a choice one makes. There is a price for making the wrong choices. And 3 relapses, 3 DUI's means this nurse was only 'caught' 3 times. She probably thinks getting behind the wheel intoxicated is no big thing. It is a big thing.

Maybe the BON is not aware of it.

I know an LPN in KS who has three DUIs and lost her DR for two years. She rides a bike to the nursing home where she is charge nurse. She never reported the DUIs to the KS BON, so they don't know about them.

I dont mind a drink. In fact I have even enjoyed them. But I never drive. I will have a friend drive, or calla taxi. Or even and I really enjoy this, Is to call a Limo. I love Limos and their service and the way they take care of you.

I have never drank and got behind the wheel. As a matter of fact, I have never drank any alcoholic beverage. Ever. And I have no intention of doing so.

For the record, I am 24.

Put me in the never had a drink and got behind the wheel of a car club. Not even one, ever. I know that if I ever did anything to hurt anyone I just could not live with myself. Drinking and driving isn't a "mistake." It is stupid and selfish.

Hopefully you're not serious with this post. Let's not judge someone who has zero regard for the laws and just does what she wants. Sure, people make mistakes. This is not a mistake, it's an ongoing PROBLEM. The important mistakes you only make ONCE. Those are the kind that are likely to kill or seriously injure you or someone else. She's done it AT LEAST 3 times - she's only been caught three times.

As for the whole "wrong side of the law" argument, of course none of us "hope" never to be there - that's why we act responsibly and don't do incredibly stupid, dangerous things like drinking and driving.

There's another forum I frequent, and it showcases just how easily it is to die doing something like the OPs friend did. Morbid? Perhaps. But it reinforces to all of us that the choices we make can have dire consequences for us as well as others.

And your point is what exactly? Do you want sympathy from us? Because your not going to get it on this thread. A lot of us have probably seen victims from drunken drivers. She's been busted 3 times, how many other times has she driven drunk? She sounds way too stupid to be nurse.

Anyone could possibly get one DUI it happens. Three is a indication this person is in fact alcoholic and desperately needs help. A psychiatrist I once worked with use to say that all the time. The average person if they ever had too much to drink and actually got a DUI would be so embarrased by it, not to mention so ****** at themselves for the added expense of paying high risk insurance . That person would never get behind a wheel again after having a drink. The alcoholic however would blame the cops for watching for them specifically and ticketing them. They don't learn as the alcohol has control of them.

I have not and do not drink more than one drink if I have to drive. If I don't have to drive 2 drinks it still my limit.
