Not sure if this is still in situ, but http://www.baptisthealth.net might still have $7500.00 for experienced RNs.

I signed on for $15K. I know in TX it was $50K about 2 years ago....

Specializes in Acute care, Community Med, SANE, ASC.

Cincinnati did have a $30,000 bonus a few years ago--it was also for a 3-year commitment. In the areas where they had a great need they also paid it for longevity--meaning nurses who already worked there and signed on to stay for 3 more years also got the bonus--paid out $10,000 a year or something like that. They did exist.

I remember a local hospital offering a NEW CAR as a sign on bonus, plus teacher hours (8 hr days, off for summers!) Yep, that was at least 12 years ago...

I remember hearing about one a few years ago that was $25K for a 5-year contract. I wonder how many people took them up on it.

5 years? What if you are miserable?

I signed on for 18 months. I like where I am and will stay. They are still willing to pay for advanced practice for me, but I would have to sign a contract for 3 years.

Not sure I would do that.

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

i was about to post that several years ago i read about a place in south texas offering a crazy bonus but i thought it was more like 50k....to the op be very leery of any job offering you that amount of bonus....there is usually a catch....

actually this did exist at one point, u guys don't do your research. my mom did receive a 25k bonus but it was located in a small town that no one wants to live in (mcallen, tx) and the cost was split for 3 yrs b/c u must work for them for that long. this was like 5 yrs ago though, probably doesn't exist anymore

*still* exist?

try: NEVER existed

My wife completed a $50,000 bonus contract on June 20 of this year, so they definitely exist.

Now, where they DO exist, they exist for a good reason. The working conditions were terrible, but luckily for my wife, she promoted into a trauma management position and rose above the bad conditions.

ETA: Yes, it is in South Texas, as others said.

I doubt it.

If you find one that does, you should ask yourself why the employer needs to use such a fat carrot to find and retain employees.

Only for BSN superhero's! But the work load is tough, and then there are those villans to contend with...Military.

I live in North Carolina. The highest I saw for sign on bonuses in the past was 10K.

I haven't seen a sign on bonus in a long time.

I rarely get those free nursing magazines/ad packs/nursing recruitment ads, anymore either.

I haven't heard of any since at least 2001 or 2002 in the areas I have worked. Many new grads are looking for ANY job-more applicants than jobs-the bonus is probably pretty rare.
