what are signs/symptoms of bowel obstruction?

I am an LPN and have a patient who is having severe stomach cramps. The cramps seem to subside until the patient eats and the cramps begin again and in the same spot, above umbilicus and then he passes almost all water, no feces. This has been going on for about 4 days now..........is it possible he has a bowel obstruction?

Your pt. could have a bowel obstruction, or be constipated &/or impacted. He needs to be seen by an MD if he hasn't had a BM by now!
