or transplant? I have a LTC patient with chronic c-diff. As soon as the Flagyl tx stoped starts with loose stools again. Already treated with Vanco. Doc also has him on Lactinex and yeast. Doc mentioned poss stool transplant? Any info on this. Sounded like taking tissue from a health colon and transplanting to pts. Any info on this would really help!

Did you end up doing a stool transplant? I'm thinking about doing one on my Dad. He's had chronice cdiff for a year. I've looked it up and it's not a tissue transplant. It's transferring normal stool into a patient via a low volume enema. I want to do it but I don't know the exact technique, i.e., is there a diet you follow before you collect, do you mix the "poop" with normal saline, etc. If you've done the research, can you share? Thanks.

I wish I could help more. I have heard of if. A distant relative, PhD in molecular biology, works at the Salk institute. Mentioned it to me a year or so ago.

Givmeabr8k is on the right track. It is newish. So it could possibly be the big break through for c-dif. Or they could find out in a few years that it didn't really work?

I Goggled it but my brain wasn't up to researching complex (to me) abstracts.

Maybe the doctor that mentioned it could give you more information?

I have had several pts have this done an it cleared them of cdif. The donors were all family members.
