Full liquid diet-smoothies o.k.?

Hi!

Are smoothies (blended fruit with water and protein powder) o.k. on a full liquid diet?

I'd check with a dietician affiliated with your facility.

The fruit is often not part of a full liquid diet especially if seedy (all berries). Often blended fruit falls under puréed or blenderizsd. Always use your resources and check with the registered dietician.

FYI there are many fruit flavored protein shakes consistent with the parameters of a full liquid diet.

Again check with the RD as this is the dietician's scope.

By definition even blended fruit is inconsistent with a full liquid diet as they are solid at room temperature. Full liquid includes substances that are liquid at room temperature: ice cream, sherbet, Popsicles, strained juice, tea, milks, strained soup, strained cream soup, broth, jello
