Endo tech duties

by redpup1

I'm wondering about what the Endo techs in everyone elses hospital based GI labs do with regards to injecting epi, Botox and other meds through the scope and whether or not your techs assist in bronchoscopy with handing lido and epi to the pulmonologists. There has been some recent questions regarding scope of practice with this. There is always an MD in the room and always an RN.

Default Re: Endo tech duties
I am an endo tech and we had this same discussion at the hosp where I work. Techs no not handle epi in any way (we were mainly using it w/ sclerotherapy) however we do assist bronchs and handle lido (our pulm dont really use epi much at all). When a doc wants epi the nurse will push it.
Hope this helps!
