All about GI nursing

by kstec

I have an interview on Monday at a GI facility and am wondering what all the job might entail(sp). I was told that I would be starting I'V's, doing conscious sedation, and recovery. I've only been a LPN for 1 year and have done LTC and family practice at a clinic. Alot of the skills that I learned in school are not being utilized. I'm afraid I may have forgotten them all. All I do know is that I will be pulling out the old school book in regards to the whole GI system. I'm nervous and yet very excited. I do enjoy my jobs at LTC and family practice but I just feel I want more, what I'm not sure, but more of something. If anyone has done any of the above with GI, please give me pointers and reassurance if I should get the job. I'm almost positive I'm going to get the job because it's the DON at the LTC facility that I work at mother. I've met her on a personal level and do not want to disappoint. And of course because money makes the world go round, is the pay decent? Thanks in advance.
