    post count stars are a representation of your post count status. (see figure 1) they are available to help you become familiar with other posters in an efficient manner. for example, you can glance the whole page and a few posters will stand out even if you are not familiar with them.

    post count stars are available in 3 tiers / 5 levels each (total of 15 levels):
    • bronze (0 - 999 posts)
    • silver (1,000 - 9,999 posts)
    • gold (10,000 - 25,000 posts)
    currently, everyone who has 25,000+ posts are awarded the gold 5 stars. as we get more people crossing the 25,000 posts threshold we will add new levels.

    OK, I get how we are gold, silver, and bronze, but what about the 5 levels? Will I get more silver stars as I progress closer and closer to 9,999 posts?

    You can click on the stars to get post count and Likes.

    There's also an option to have this "user info box" open by default found under you Account / Settings.

    Just wanted to clarify, so when you click on the stars and see Likes: #, this is the # of likes the person has received correct? or is it the # of likes they've given?

    Simply, I much prefer the original status displays far better. Not too hip on the star status display. {For me} it has an academic school ranking feel to it. ??

    What was wrong with using the number? We have gone through so many changes over the years, sometimes they don't seem necessary.

    We still use the number of posts. Could you clarify what you mean?
