This is a discussion on Licensed Nurses Only in Frequently Asked Questions, part of Information Center ... I just wanted to run this up the flagpole and see what response i got. How many of you on here...
by wwfd May 25, '11I just wanted to run this up the flagpole and see what response i got. How many of you on here believe that this site should be limited to only licensed nurses? No patients,no wanna be nurses and no nursing students. Should these be truly a site where nurses can come and vent with no fear of being scolded for being "mean" or "burned out". Would it make this a better site?

May 25, '11 by MukfayNope. I don't think that limiting it in that way would prevent scolding. This site was a big part of my success from prereqs through my NCLEX last month, and my new job this month. It would have been more difficult without it.
As to the tendency to jump on people who are venting. I've noticed that the people who do that are regulated pretty well by the group.

May 25, '11 by TreniaThat's why there are sub forums for nurses, "wannabe nurses", and students. Since this is the internet, there would also be no way to police that. I don't believe becoming a licensed nurse also signs away your right to disagree with someone else. Scolding isn't always a bad thing. - May 25, '11 by MukfayI've also noticed that, on occasion, people learn that they are perceived as compassionless, and they grow from that. What a great lesson for a nurse or nurse-to-be.

Mukfay - May 25, '11 by gentlegiverNope, I vote it stays the way it is. Students need encouragement & support, Non-Nurses need to ask questions they may not know where else tofind the answers to. While having a safe place to vent is wonderful, thoses who are non-medical sometimes very understanding.

I get sick of the random chronic pain patient popping in a thread venting about drug seekers saying "OMG u don't know me! I need 6 mg of Diluaded because I take 6 grams of Roxi per day. Don't judge me you heartless nurses. You need to find a new line of work!"
