Closing Threads by the MODS - Page 14
Register Today!- Mar 19, '07 by brianHi everyone,
I just got done reading this whole thread
I appreciate everyones opinions, understanding and appreciation (or lack of) of the staff members time and effort they all put in here. If if were not for the mods/admins, this site would not be what it is. I also appreciate all the members for their thoughtful post and brilliant content.
As it has already been said, I do not like to see threads closed. But I also understand that they need to be closed at times for numerous reasons, some of those reasons are not public knowledge.
Our goal here is to make the environment here to be friendly and welcoming to as many people as possible. Also as others have stated, it is impossible to please everyone, but we do our best with the time and energy we have.
I did move this thread from the general nursing forum to the Website Help/Suggestions forum as I thought it was a better fit
Thanks again for everyone's feedback, it all helps us better understand you all! - Mar 20, '07 by SuesquatchRNQuote from TweetyHeh. That was the thread that caused me to leave. I typed, and I quote, "You're entitled to that opinion but it is, well, bigoted." I got a wrist slap and percentage watch added for personal attacks and violating the TOS.It seems they were having a harder time with it than me, or more than likely they were getting a lot of complaints. I kept saying "no, I can handle it". Eventually the bigot got himself banned and the thread was closed.
I wondered where he'd gone. Good riddance. He's the same one who said I couldn't talk about nurses' caps because it was sexist. What the heck? - Mar 20, '07 by TweetyQuote from SuesquatchBoy that was a long time ago I hardly remember. I'm sorry you got dinged, but a very belated thanks for your support. I have to say that I made it through all those days without a TOS violation was pretty amazing. I did have to bite my tongue, sit on my hands, and walk away from the computer and take a breathe and pace for a while, that much I do remember.Heh. That was the thread that caused me to leave. - Jul 3, '07 by squeakykittyI noticed that the "tell me about the wacko in your nursing class" thread has been closed for about a month. Is that one ever going to come back? (Just want to know if I made it to the wacko hall of fame.)
- Jul 6, '07 by lorsterWell, I'm back after being kicked off allnurses for posting on this thread. Guess that is one way to shut me up. I wanted to update. I took a few months off this job and had quit my position prior to this post even and was able to reflect on all the reasons I was in this profession to begin with. I do not regret anything I said in the nurses are pathetic post. It was how I was feeling at the time. I was ready to throw in the towel due to the level of frustration I felt being here. I took a travel nursing job down the road and it was the most horrible experience of my nursing career. By the end of it, I was ready to come back to the current company I work for and have been here since. I was able to take enough time off between jobs though to realize how much I missed it. I am back to work at my old hospital and thank ful to be there and actually enjoying it again. I think the break really helped the burn out. So, if anyone gets to the point I was at, take time off, change gears and allow yourself the time it takes to decide if you really want to be a nurse. It made things so much better for me and I'm actually happy at work again.
- Jul 7, '07 by NRSKarenRNBurnout is a serious issue with those in the medical profession and especially nurses.
Glad you took advice career experts recommend: take time out for yourself, move to different practice environment if possible, reflect on what behaviours contributed situation and do something completely different for a while. Many people find that the grass IS NOT greener on the other side, just need to learn to say NO to extra shifts.
Glad your enthused about practicing nursing again and came back to tell us so.
Tweety likes this. - Jul 7, '07 by TweetyQuote from squeakykittyNo, but I'll nominate you if you want. Thanks for the update. - Jul 8, '07 by CHATSDALEi had forgotten all about this thread...some threads can get out of hand but mostly i enjoy time spent here and
you can't agree with everyone but you can learn and share your knowledge and that is a good thing - Jul 9, '07 by squeakykittyQuote from TweetyI printed most of it out, but should have finished printing before it disappeared. I enjoyed reading that one. I do wish people would post carefully so that the interesting threads don't get yanked. I posted in 5 of them that were closed this year and only 2 of them came back. No, but I'll nominate you if you want. I've been a member of the Wacko Hall of Fame for a long time and I'm sure you qualify.
