Six bucks is quite a bit more. If you're working 8's, that's $48 extra. A 12 hr shift would be $72 more. Even if you're working five 8's per week, I would still think it comes out in your favor after factoring in the driving.

I drive 38 miles one way to work - because I LOVE my job in OB!! Money isn't always everything - if you don't like what you're doing I don't think it's worth it. But hey if it the same work & you like the place I say "SHOW ME THE MONEY"

I used to drive 45 miles one way just to work. But I had to stop when I had a baby. Not enough sleep...Too dangerous. Those were not highway miles. If you will like the new job it is not that far.

I have to ditto the other nurses. Sometimes your decision will depend on the facility and not the money. You might go to this place that pays $6 more/hr but be totally unhappy then you have to ask yourself if it is worth it.

Good luck with your decision!

I would, but I already drive 1 hour to work (yes one way). I love my job though so I took a HUGE paycut for it (like 6/hr paycut) but if your unhappy and unhealthy at your place of employment, then $6/hr doesn't make alot of difference.
If it is something you would be interested in, then I say go for it, but if you get there and it doesn't 'click' then take the paycut if you find something more fitting to you.
