Hi, I just stumbled upon this forum when I Googled MedAssurant. I posted it to another thread (page 9), so I wasn't sure if I had used the correct thread (I am not very knowledgeable or experienced with these "forums." So, I apologize for repeating my post...
I have a few questions (after reading most of the posts). A classified Ad for MedAssurant just was printed in today's Kalamazoo Gazette: "RN, LPN, Coder, and MA MedAssurant, a national provider of clinical abstraction, analysis, and verification services is seeking RNs, LPNs, coders, and MAs to perform medical record reviews/abstractions at care provider offices. Competitive pay, mileage reimbursement, PT/FT positions, bonus potential in certain areas and paid training."
Can someone describe the RN "reviewer" position? Is this strictly Hedis reviews? Are you given specific criteria to be looking for in a chart? Then you scan pages of charts? How does this work with HIPAA? Is all the training done on teleconferences? A couple of posts referred to passing a test (s?) -- When does this occur?
The Ad stated "mileage reimbursement" - Is this the federal tax mileage reimbursement? (How many cents per mile?) Or, with the current gas prices, are they figuring in additional reimbursement? Is it adequate? What's this about not paying for "driving time to the site"?
I know this is a bunch more than "a few questions..." Sorry. I am so blessed to have stumbled upon a site of nurses who have actually done this. I am an old RN, with oodles of experiences in a variety of areas, but I don't want to jump into another job blindly. I would greatly appreciate your honest answers. Thank you so much!
