When to apply for a job?

I only have 7 weeks of school left and am wondering when exactly I should start looking at jobs? Is it okay to apply for a job while you still have a couple of weeks left? My goal is to have a job immediately after graduation. Is this possible?

Re: When to apply for a job?

What type of place are you looking at applying to? From my experiences with nursing homes, is that they usually have to fill the staffing need almost immediately. I applied at some nursing homes about 2-3 weeks before graduation and heard the same thing from all of them, "call us when you graduate!" When applying at a hospital, right now would probably be a good time to start because their application processes take much longer, like maybe 1-3 months before you actually start work.

Re: When to apply for a job?

Alot of people from my class applied and were hired on as CNA's in LTC until they passed their boards. Along the way they were shown how to work as a nurse when they too boards. Around here LPN's can only get jobs in LTC and clinics. If you can get into a hospital and work as a CNA until you get your license that would be great too. Some places would do it, some wouldn't.
