Waiting to take NCLEX

Hello to everyone.. I've read alot of posts in here and I am nervous like the rest of you waiting to take the NCLEX..I am scheduled for the 16th of Jan. I thought about waiting to take it, but then I was afraid I'd forget some stuff from school..I struggled really hard in school and it was along hard year, but I made it by the grace of GOD !! So now I am going over the Saunders book, but my friend just took it and she said the Saunders didn't help..So now I am freaking out, I'm not sure how to study now..Also I was told that there are several fill in the blank questions !! I'm hoping not or I am in BIG trouble..Any advice would be helpful..Thanks

Re: Waiting to take NCLEX

I struggled in school too and I was terrified to take the nyclex. In fact on the way to the test I was crying because I was so afraid I was going to fail. My sister who did much better in school than me had taken hers and had passed but with the max number of questions which was 205. In fact some of the students with high grades got a higher number of questions. You can imagine how I felt. My Mom was praying for me though and I could feel her prayers Anyway when the computer shut off at 85 questions after only an hour and 20 minutes I got REALLY scared. I had used Saunders and ATI study plan. Well 48 hours later I found out I passed!!! So don't let yourself get freaked out. Saunders helped.....Best Wishes to you

Jean

Re: Waiting to take NCLEX

Wow, I know I'll be the same the night before my NCLEX too! Unfortunately, I still haven't received my ATT letter but I'm hoping it will come soon. I've been studying the Saunders Comprehensive and been doing the 100 question Exam Mode and checking All Content Area...I"ve been getting low scores each time. The other night I got a 63% and tonight I dropped to a 50% and then I did it again and got a 59%..These scores are waaaay too low...any suggestions????

GOOD LUCK TINA!!!!!!! TRY TO GET PLENTY OF REST AND EAT A GOOD BREAKFAST...NO COFFEE AS IT IS A DIURETIC! hehehe LET US KNOW HOW IT GOES! I'll be waiting................................

Question Re: Waiting to take NCLEX

Good luck to resser, tinacolada305, and alpha dog! You will do fine on the NCLEX. I'm sure you studied hard and long for it. Let us know how it went. I was just wondering, how come the NCLEX stops at different # of questions? Why isn't it the same # of questions for everybody? I find that unfair.

Re: Waiting to take NCLEX

I'm in the same boat as many of you, I just graduated in December from an LPN program and I am waiting for the letter that says I can test with NCLEX.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to study for it and sometimes feel I am not focused enough.

We took a seminar called Rinehart and Associates, which is an NCLEX review that apparently has a high pass rate. They give you a disc to study by, and I always do pretty well on that.

Then I bought a Saunders PN disc and do test questions with that, and do well on that, too.

And I bought a Kaplan Nclex strategies book that I feel is very helpful in understanding questions and how to choose the right answer. I only got 65% the first time, but almost 100% the second time taking the test in the back of the book.

I was an A/B student in school, but the content was pretty exact, so that doesn't make me feel confident about the NCLEX.

We took the Hesi exit exam, but the score didn't matter, according to our instructor. We had another exam that counted for 60% of our grade that we took just before the Hesi, on the same day. If we didn't pass that one test - we wouldn't graduate. Needless to say, everyone studied for that one test, and our instructors told us not to worry about the Hesi, it was a formality.
Consequently, I can safely say that the class as a whole didn't study for the Hesi. I know I didn't. After that 60% exam, we didn't find out our grades, and were sent directly to take the Hesi. I was stressed about the previous test, not knowing my score on it. Had I known I had scored a B on it, I could have relaxed for the Hesi, but I didn't know that, and I was a bit stressed.

My score on the Hesi was 800, which isn't so good. Again, it didn't matter or affect my graduation, but it sure knocked my confidence level down several notches. I'm not sure if anyone in our class did well on the Hesi. Looking back, I just didn't like the wording on the questions, and didn't take the test seriously.

Since that test, I've been nervous about the NCLEX. Studying, studying studying. I can't wait for this to be over!
