Thirty Unit Option for LVN's

I know that when u do the 30 unit option (I'm in CA), you don't get an ADN but you will be an RN after taking the NCLEX. My question is: After doing the 30 units option, will I be able to apply for RN to BSN programs as if I had a ADN?? I want a BSN so I can apply to med school, but i dont want to be wasting time now getting a ADN when I could get a BSN in the same amount of time.

Re: Thirty Unit Option for LVN's

The 30 unit option has several drawbacks.

The 30 unit option is regarded as a 'terminal' education and, therefore, you will not be regarded as a graduate of your school. If you are not regarded as a graduate of your school for the 30 unit option, you will encounter difficulty with gaining acceptance into a BSN program. Also, your RN license will be restricted. Countless nurses have tried to endorse their license to other states, only to be rejected, because the 30 unit option is not accepted outside California.

The 30 unit option is for RNs who don't ever plan to further their educations, are fully comfortable with a limited license, and plan to do bedside nursing throughout the course of their careers.
