What an LPN/LVN is allowed to do truly depends upon their state's nurse practice act. I see that you are in California, which places quite a few restrictions on what LVNs are allowed to do. I am in Texas, where I am permitted to do everything that RNs do except pronounce death, push specific IV meds such as Vitamin K, and complete the initial hospital assessment.

Your school will have clinical rotations that involve practicing as a student nurse inside hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes. Therefore, your school will notify you of what procedures they expect you to learn.

"Peds" is simply an abbreviation for "pediatrics."
