Re: New LPN grad looking for LPNs insight

CONGRATS on passing your boards and/or finishing nursing school. It's tough, been there done that. I remember very well the day I found out that I had passed. I screamed, cried, yelled, laughed...it was a very exciting day. Of course, that's been eons ago, but it felt so good knowing that I had graduated and passed my nursing boards. Good luck in your career, just don't get over anxious and you will be fine. Again, CONGRATS and best of luck!!!!!!

I sent it yesterday. Will they let me choose a date for 3 weeks or so? I don't have to take it right away right. I also applied for accomodations and they said that would take me at least a week. I was in the RN at my college but I did not pass two different semesters. I told myself I would never give up, not even if I had to backward before I went forward.

Just be sure that you are grounded enough to negotiate your first salary correctly. Never let a prospective employer think that you are desperate for work, no matter how desperate you actually might be. I am going into the fifth month of my first LPN job and have known that I should have negotiated a better salary and perhaps (probably) should not have taken the job at all.

You know you will want to stay in that first position for at least a year, so make sure you get what you want before you start. You'll thank yourself later.

Congrats on passing the boards. I cannot answere your question about looking for a job at this point. My concern is the boards. What did you think of the exam? Was it as hard as you expected? I hope you find a job soon. What area of nursing are you applying?

Have you tried contacting old classmates or visiting the career center at the school you attended? One of my favorite quotes:

"It's not what you know, but who you know"

I don't want to take it until the end of July or so but I want to mail in my paperwork soon cause I'm not sure how long it will take to process
I basically went through the questions on the CD with my laptop. The program had a feature where you can bookmark questions and return to them later, though it did not work all of the time.

I'm not sure how they do it in other states but in California, I was able to pick a date online and it was pretty easy. Good luck!

Re: New LPN grad looking for LPNs insight

I just graduated and took the nclex end of June...I was so confident walking in there and when I left I knew i had failed... I was wrong, I PASSED... but I felt like **** for four days.. I started wondering what my new dreams were going to be since I was not going to be a nurse... it was aweful. I bought the Mosby's but didn't use it alot... the test was not a good mix of topics for me either... i think it can hone in on your weakness... I had 88 questions... probably 5 that I really knew that I knew... I studied lab values too and there wasn't a single question about them. Of course if I hadn't studied them there would have been...Right? As far as job hunting... I just moved to a place where there is no shortage of nurses so.... but a friend in Florida i went to school with is interviewing tomorrow for 25.50/hour with an agency. I looked on the State of hawaii website and found they continuously hire LPN's for all different locations, LTC, physician offices, same day surgery centers, -portamedic hires for insurance physicals...gives a flexible schedule... my space jobs is where I found alot of those ads- well good luck on your nclexs' and with job hunting...

Re: New LPN grad looking for LPNs insight

hello guys, im John from the Philippines. Im a new graduate of a 2 year LPN program and i'm still preparing for my NCLEX-PN exam. Im worried, even if I pass, there is no market of LPN here in the Philippines and I also heard that there is no demand of Filipino LPN's abroad...
