New grad LPN got fired from first job in 2 months..What should I do now? :(
|
|
I graduated in May 2006..Then recieved my license in October 2006..In November 2006, I got my first job..Well, this job, there were a lot of things that went wrong..I do not want to go into detail but honestly, I feel competent in being a nurse..A nurse who worked there for a year told me that the facility is understaffed and I guess that played a role in my ability to accomplish things..
Anyway, I have been unemployed for 2 weeks now..I filled out a lot of resumes and had two interviews..Still nothing!! I was wondering what is a good approach in looking for a LPN job? Please help..It seems that LPN jobs are very competitive in my area and they are not too many...

I am so sorry this happened to you but I doubt you are the only one. Seems to be so many truly horrible toxic work places. Wishing you good luck in your search.

Oh Bala, I know how u feel. I quit my lame job almost a month ago and it truly does suck being unemployed. All I can say is keep looking, I dont live in Nevada but im sure its something out there for u. If you found this crappy place then I know u can find another... Just kidding. But seriously, dont give up!. Keep stumping the pavement and soon enough you'll be making a new thread telling everyone how u love your new job... GOOD LUCK!!!

Yes, you know today, I went for an interview..They have 2 nurses to 28 patients..Everything seemed calm and orderly..The nurses were relaxed but working..Everything seemed neat..
The place that fired me had 2 nurses to 49 patients..I did not have time for lunch breaks or anything..That was one of the many issues there relating to understaffing..

Good luck, shark. I lost my first LPN job after 5 months. Two nurses to 42 patients.

Perhaps it was just not the place for you. Some healthcare facilities clearly set new nurses up for failure.

yeah, i quit my job due to understaffing. we had 2 nurses for 60 patients during am an pm shift, then the whole 60 goes to one nurse during noc shift. sad to say, i was that 1 nurse during noc. this was in the ltc area, but the cardiac or ortho unit would consist of 14-18 patients to 1 nurse which was really cool. anyways, good luck and keep looking. dont just take any job tho cause it could jeopardize your license and stress you out.

I am shocked that I just got to this post, now. I remember when you were posting and saying that you really needed work, and were disappointed in the fact that you didn't find a job earlier...and now, THIS...I am really sorry to hear that, and had I saw your post earlier than today, I would have responded and expressed my empathy before today. I sincerely hope that you find a better opportunity and in a more friendlier atmosphere!
