FIRST TIME POSTING...
DO ANY OTHER LPN'S HAVE TROUBLE GETTIN RECOGNITION AS A NURSE FROM PATIENTS OR FROM PEERS WHO ARE RN'S? AFTER ONLY 5 YEARS OF NURSING AS AN LPN, I AM OFF TO PURSUE BSN FOR MANY REASONS; ONE BEING THIS POST TITLE, I AM A NURSE, I HOLD CREDENTIALS, I TOOK STATE BOARDS, YET WHERE I WORK, ONLY WHEN THE LETTERS 'RN' FOLLOW YOUR NAME ARE YOU CONSIDERED VALUABLE. LPN'S WHERE I WORK ARE TREATED AS SECOND CLASS CITIZENS, AND IN FACT DESPITE THE FACT THAT I REPEATEDLY HAVE TO RECITE MY SCOPE OF PRACTICE TO MY SUPERVISOR, SHE FINDS WAYS TO MAKE US LPN'S FEEL INFERIOR.
SO I'VE DECIDED TO FORGO THE RALLYING FOR RIGHTS FOR COMRADERY, AND JUST PURSUE MY BSN. ISN'T IT UNFORTUNATE THOUGH THAT NURSES DON'T SEE EACH OTHER AS PARTNERS INSTEAD OF RIVELS WHERE I WORK

, where do you work, I'm coming over there!, Nah!, just kiddin. Don't worry about those haters, the patients we take care of and the lives we touch are proof of what we do and who we are. When someone is sick, they don't care whether you're an RN or LPN, as long as your a nurse and you know what you're doing, your valuable. I loooovvvee, being a nurse, and I am an LPN, and yes I will be pursuing my RN, not because I just want the title, but because I care about what I do and I want to do more, I'm still a nurse though! LPNs all the way, from one NURSE to another
