Hey all,

I'm considering doing an LVN to ADN transition program. Do any of you guys know an colleges or universities in Texas or Colorado that offer that program?

I happen to live in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, where many LVN-to-RN bridge programs exist. Here's a list of all of the bridge programs that I can think of in DFW, North Texas, and East Texas:

3. Brookhaven College, Farmers Branch (LVN-to-RN)
4. Tarleton State University, Stephenville (LVN-to-BSN)

6. Hill College, Cleburne (LVN-to-RN)
7. Navarro College, Corsicana (LVN-to-RN)
8. Trinity Valley Community College, Kaufman (LVN-to-RN)
9. North Central Texas College, Gainesville (LVN-to-RN)
10. Northeast Texas Community College, Mount Pleasant (LVN-to-RN)
11. Grayson County College, Denison (LVN-to-RN)

Just about any community college should offer a nursing program, or at least out here in california, just about all of them do. Be careful though, you might be in for a surprise.

When I went to golden west here in huntington beach I found out that I had to take every single one of the pre-requisites, including anatomy and pharmacology (which i'm taking this semester.... what a bore) They've taken away the anatomy and pharmacology credits they've given all of us LVN's that in the past we'd get just by having the license, BS yeah I agree, just makes for 2 more courses I have to take. Also, some colleges will require you to take a summer bridge course (like mine) which is two days a week over the summer, just to get you up to date and ready to bridge in at 3rd semester.

I was wondering about the A&P. I was hoping my A&P 1 and 2 that I had in my LVN program would count.

The Baptist School of Health Professions in San Antonio is another school that offers the LVN-RN bridge program.

Just check with the schools around you, find out what pre-requisites you have to take, some of them, like mine give entrance points for sciences like anatomy and physiology, and you'll find too some schools won't accept anatomy/phisiology as a combined course, they want you to take them separately. So just be careful.
